According to Sarah Bacon the Yahoo! Messenger Product Manager;

An important security update is now available for users of Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 on Windows. It is strongly suggested that all users download and install the latest version (8.1.0.416) that includes this update.

This security update from Yahoo! is most likely due to the latest exploit involving the send file / webcam invite. She later goes on to say,

After you have upgraded to the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger, as a general rule, we recommend that, even if you know and trust the sender, you always take caution when receiving files from other Yahoo! Messenger users, clicking links, viewing webcams etc.

This is definately good advice and good computer usage principal.
