Has the messenger team pulled the plug for the 7.1 version of messenger? I am getting reports from various sources, that they simply can not login to the messenger service.  I remember reading that Yahoo! will be dropping support for older clients, in a push to get people on the new 9.0 beta or the vista beta.

This really wouldn’t surprise me, but there has got to be a more graceful way of getting people to update their messenger clients. That is of course if that is whats going on.
