Yahoo! Messenger Maintenance Update Complete!

June 10th, 2008 by Brandon

In a message posted yesterday on the official Yahoo! Messenger Blog it appears that the maintenance update for the messenger servers is now complete. From what I gathered from the original post is that they were just switching servers out of an old data center and into the new data center.

I dont think that the new data center is really all that new at all. I remember these *mud* servers being around for a while. Well at least back when we were hunting for new Yahoo! servers, I remember coming across them. Maybe they have been upgraded, which would be nice. Hopefully this update will cut back on connection problems and server resets.

Posted below is the original message from Melissa Daniels who apparently is the Yahoo! Messenger Community Manager. I haven’t seen a post from her before. Maybe that means we will be seeing more posts from the Yahoo! Messenger team.

Yahoo! Server Maintenance: June 5th 2008

June 5th, 2008 by Brandon

Sarah Bacon from the Yahoo! Messenger team made a blog post concerning potential service interruptions. I have included a part from her original post concerning the downtime and possible problems.

We have scheduled some maintenance to Yahoo! Messenger starting at 5pm Pacific time on June 5. We anticipate that this maintenance will be complete by 9pm Pacific time that same evening.

During the maintenance period, some Yahoo! Messenger users, especially those on version 8.0 or earlier, may be logged out of the product unexpectedly. If this does occur, you should be able to log back in immediately. In addition, users on older versions may have trouble using certain features like file transfer, mobile IM and display images.
