Yahoo! Music Store Closing

July 24th, 2008 by Brandon

Just as the headline reads folks. The Yahoo! Music store is now shutting the doors. It is urging its customers to burn their purchased music to CD. Which for all of you that have paid for this service, i would suggest doing that pronto!! You wont be able to share music either, from what I understand however they will be teaming up with Rhapsody. Which I don’t know why, they could have gone for a better situation if you ask me. Rhapsody. seriously.. gross..

Here is the e-mail that the Yahoo! Music store team sent out:

The New Yahoo IDs Work in Messenger

July 2nd, 2008 by Brandon

Yahoo for some reason or another has brought back @rocketmail and has also added @ymail to their service. Rocketmail has been around forever and went away for a little while. Maybe it is just some sort of marketing ploy to say hey come look at what we brought back.

In any account you can create names with @rocketmail and sign into yahoo messenger with them. So for all you elite name types, go create some new ids before they are gone. Here is the post from the Yahoo Messenger Blog regarding the new Yahoo! IDs.

December 11th, 2007 by Brandon

Has the messenger team pulled the plug for the 7.1 version of messenger? Yahoo! 360 Closing Down

October 25th, 2007 by Brandon

Co-founder Jerry Yang made a blog post on Yahoo! official blog basically stating that Yahoo! will start to move in a new direction. And with this direction it appears that Yahoo! will be merging the not so popular 360 platform to a more integrated profile. In my opinion it is seriously about time, they started to merge the other various Yahoo! properties together, especially those concerning the Yahoo! community.

I would love to see them expand their profile to encompass Answers and even their new social networking platform Mash which is still in private beta. Although I do have a Mash account I have not really used it, the idea of letting other people mess with your page is the only real drawback for me on it (although I believe you can stop that.)

This is what was posted on the 360 blog:

Yahoo! Chat Problems

August 24th, 2007 by Brandon

Over the past year, Yahoo! has come under some serious fire for letting their chat rooms go to hell. The public chat rooms are now rampant with bots. I challenge you to enter a chat room and not find a single bot.

In hopes to combat this very serious problem Yahoo! has been working on their backend. They recently installed some patches and fixes for the join room times. These fixes for the most part wen’t well. Joining a chatroom is now quicker than ever but now you can’t really enter the room you want to enter, you get bumped to another available room in the same category.
This certainly puts a damper on your chat experience especially if you are like me and visit a single room and generally stay in that room. Yahoo! is working on a fix and is still working on more updates regarding the bot problem.
