Adobe, Google, Yahoo Team Up for Flash Search

July 17th, 2008 by Brandon

In a move long in the Making, Adobe Systems is teaming up with Search Engine leaders to make Flash content more Searchable. This should have quite the impact on a lot of sites that are now having to clone content in order for them to rank anywhere in the search engines. Although I doubt that it will be as good. My advice is to stick w/ duplicating content from flash to html form and cloaking the content based on user agent / ip address.

The central complaint revolves around slow decision-making, a long-standing issue. New services still must run a gauntlet of meetings and approvals that can delay them for months. “It was difficult to get things done,” says Greg Yardley, a product manager who left earlier this year.

Yahoo Launches New Social Network Kickstart

November 5th, 2007 by Brandon

Yahoo has just released a new service on their network entitled “Kickstart”. This new social network will be compared closely to Facebook, since it is aiming at the college crowd. Although I wouldn’t really say that this service is going to be like Facebook in most regards it seems to me it is a more professionally geared social networking service. This new social network feels to me more like Facebook meets linkedin. I don’t think you will be seeing to many keg stand pictures on Kickstart. If you are interested in finding old college buddies and building a professional profile, I suggest you give it a try.

Yahoo! 360 Closing Down

October 25th, 2007 by Brandon

Co-founder Jerry Yang made a blog post on Yahoo! official blog basically stating that Yahoo! will start to move in a new direction. And with this direction it appears that Yahoo! will be merging the not so popular 360 platform to a more integrated profile. In my opinion it is seriously about time, they started to merge the other various Yahoo! properties together, especially those concerning the Yahoo! community.

I would love to see them expand their profile to encompass Answers and even their new social networking platform Mash which is still in private beta. Although I do have a Mash account I have not really used it, the idea of letting other people mess with your page is the only real drawback for me on it (although I believe you can stop that.)

This is what was posted on the 360 blog:
